Lacanau Océan

Lacanau is a commune in the French department of Gironde (region of Nouvelle-Aquitaine). The place is part of the arrondissement of Lesparre-Médoc. Lacanau had a population of 5,070 on 1 January 2019.

Lacanau has become one of the most popular surfing spots in Europe since the 1970s. Every year since 1980, professional surfers visit Lacanau-Océan for a leg of the ASP Worldtour.
